The attack involved the death of thousands of men and women while hundreds were dead.

The people of Sehwan had protested against the poor security situation at the shrine. This issue was taken up by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Reports showed that it was a suicide attack while the attacker was dressed in a Burqa. Also later a CCTV footage showed that the man made his way through the crowd into the shrine and exploded himself. It was revealed in a statement by the IG A.D.
