Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar has criticized the government for not finalizing the names of the new Chief Election Commissioner and members of the Election Commission.
Speaking to the media outside the Election Commission, he said that the prime minister was required to consult the opposition leader and send three names for consideration, but this process has not been followed.
Barrister Gohar emphasized that, according to constitutional requirements, these vacancies must be filled within 45 days. He stated that once the parliamentary committee is formed, PTI will submit names for the Chief Election Commissioner.
He further mentioned that there is currently no finalized name for the position, but discussions are underway. He urged the government to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and ensure that the appointments are made without unnecessary delays.
