A Saudi flight was forced to return to King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah after a mother forgot her child in the waiting area of the terminal, Gulf News reported on Monday.

The flight from Jeddah was travelling to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia when the woman realised a few minutes after the take-off that she was missing her baby.

A video clip of the pilot requesting permission from the Air Traffic Control is going viral on social media. It has more than 50,000 views.

“May God be with us. Can we come back or what?” the pilot says over the radio.

“This flight is requesting to come back…a passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing,” an ATC operative can be heard saying.

“Ok, head back to the gate. This is totally a new one for us!” one of the surprised controllers can be heard saying.

No further information on how the mother managed to forget her child has been released.
