He is 21 years old
Almost all engineering graduates aim to get a job in multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook. However, only a few are able to.
But can you get a job without even applying for it? A 21-year-old engineering student, Abdullah Khan, in Mumbai was hired by Google after the company spotted him on a website that hosts online programming challenges.
He was hired even before job placement rounds started in his college and on a package of 12 million Indian rupees per year.
On March 20, Abdullah Khan received the selection letter. The letter congratulated him for getting selected at Google as a Site Reliability Engineer.
Abdullah had to go through a series of online interviews (40 minutes each) and a final screening at the London office before landing the job on March 5.
A coding enthusiast, he just finished schooling from Saudi Arabia and moved to Mumbai for further studies. He is currently pursuing BE (Computer Science) from Shree LR Tiwari Engineering College.
Expressing his views, Abdullah said that he used to participate in online programming competitions for fun and he did not expect this offer.
According to the Times of India, he will be part of Google’s site reliability engineering team in September after his graduation.
