Funeral prayers were offered on Thursday in New Zealand for Syed Areeb, a Pakistani national who lost his life in the terror attack on two mosques in Christchurch last week.

His body will be handed over to his family in Pakistan. The bodies of five other Pakistanis, along with two Syrians, will be buried at the Memorial Park Cemetery in New Zealand.

“Eight martyrs will be buried in New Zealand,” said Pakistan Association of New Zealand General Secretary Asim Mukhtar.

He also said that the bodies of a victim named Zeeshan and his parents have been identified but they need further confirmation.

The bodies of 21 victims were sent for burial to their respective countries after identification, the New Zealand police have reported.

On Wednesday, the funerals of the 50 victims of the attacks were held at a cemetery near the Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch.
