US President Donald Trump has said that he doesn’t need to listen to a purported audio recording of journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.

“We have the tape, I don’t want to hear the tape, no reason for me to hear the tape,” Trump said in an interview to Fox News on Sunday.

His reasoning is that “It’s a suffering tape, it’s a terrible tape. I’ve been fully briefed on it. There’s no reason for me to hear it.”

He earlier announced that the US administration will release a full report in two days [Tuesday] on the killing of the Saudi journalist.

It was reported by The Washington Post that the CIA concluded Khashoggi was assassinated in Istanbul on the orders of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The slain journalist was a prominent critic of the crown prince’s policies and was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.
