International Women’s Day was observed on March 8 to celebrate and promote the economic, social and political uplift of women. While a vast majority lauded the momentous contribution of women in the society, some coined the idea to mark an International Men’s Day.

But to everyone’s surprise, we affirm there already exists an International Men’s Day and it is observed on November 19 every year in over 60 countries.

According to its official website, the occasion states that the day is a “focus on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models.”

The event takes place in November, when a lot of men take part in growing out their beards to raise money for men’s health donations.

The day is for society to value the men in their lives and celebrate accomplishments. Ways of celebrating the day involve festivals, fund raising campaigns, sessions and seminars, TV programs and walks.

Here is how people took on twitter about International Men’s day yesterday.

However, It’s still March—Women’s Month. We still have months to celebrate International Men’s Day. Everyone has a choice to celebrate it or not. Just remember that we shouldn’t overlook women and their abilities in every day of our lives.
