Police Umm Al Quwain and Dubai have solved the mysterious crime in which the decomposed body of an unidentified woman was found tied up and wrapped in a plastic bag under a tree on a street.

The deceased, A.S.A., has been identified as a 24-year-old Asian who entered the country in August 2015 on a tourist visa. Initial investigations had revealed that the woman had been dead for 40 days when the body was found, Khaleej Times said in a report.

Col. Humaid Matter, Director CID department at Umm Al Quwain Police had said they received a call on June 26, 2016, at the operations room about the body. A team comprising crime scene officers, forensics, CID and patrol along with an ambulance was dispatched.

After fingerprint scans failed to provide any leads, the police turned their focus to missing reports in police departments across the country. The woman was finally identified by DNA testing after three months of working on the case.

The police have also identified four culprits who were involved in the crime.
