“I don’t have regrets. These were very, very bad protesters. These were bad dudes. They were rough, tough guys.” This was what Donald Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon when asked if he had any regrets about the charged rhetoric at his rallies in Chicago on 12th march when Trump’s supporters and protesters went into a violent clash. This was not new, it is happening since Trump started his campaign for the presidency of United States of America in 2015.
American elections are very popular but still people have less knowledge about political parties. Therefore I thought it would be great if I can write for Pakistani audience. How they can make sense out of Donald Trump, by finding qualities of their politicians in Trump.
First thing in this regard is, Trump is a lot of things. He might look stupid, arrogant and racist but he enjoys enough popularity that he can be the next president of the United States. I ran a ‘similarity test’ and found that he is Trump Bhutto, Trump Bhai, Trump Khan and Trump-ul-Qadri. Confused.., wait a minute.
Do you remember Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s that famous speech when he says, “I’m no one who can decide for you, are you accepting this”, and crowd shouts, “Yes, we accept it”, Bhutto repeats it one more time and then says “if you don’t accept, go to hell, go to hell, go to hell”.
This takes a lot of courage, confidence and something more than that to abuse the audiences. I have seen trump abusing his audience too. Chelsea Byers, in his article on Huffington Post writes that, when in Las Vegas she raised her banner and shouted, “Stop the hate, Donald Trump’s hatred incites violence and leads to war,” Trump said “get her out of here” and then called her a “young woman that doesn’t know… she’s lost”. He calls other politicians stupid and “sweating like a pig”. So he is courageous, confident and abusive like Z.A. Bhutto. He is Trump Bhutto.
He resembles with exiled boss of MQM, Altaf Hussain Bhai, when he talks racist. Bhai uses Muahjir card more than often to get MQM elected and so does Donald Trump. Trump is talking about building a wall with Mexican border to keep illegal Mexicans out. Also throw Muslims out of America because he thinks they all are terrorists. So in this way he is Trump Bhai, who might get white people on board but experts say, this is bringing him more harm than good.
Trump’s bigotry makes him pretty much like PTI’s Imran Khan. Trump says, “punch the guy who say something or throw tomatoes and Khan has instigated his followers to attack PTV’s headquarter and enter into Pakistan Parliament’s building. Trump says he will pay the legal fee for any of his follower who gets caught and goes to jail. Imran says, he himself will drag the SHO and will not let him arrest his followers. So Trump in this way is Trump Khan.
Donald Trump is a great speaker and his powers lays in his short, sharp, and repeated sentences. Look at this example when he was asked if he had any regrets about the charged rhetoric at his rallies, he said “I don’t have regrets. These were very, very bad protesters. These were bad dudes. They were rough, tough guys.” This makes him similar to Tahir-ul-Qadri. Qadri is great speaker too. He also uses, sharp and repeated sentence. Ones he said, “This government is Yazidi, its PM is Yazidi, its ministers are Yazidi, everything is Yazidi, and so on….” This anecdotal way of speech attracts more audience than any other method so Trump is Trump-ul-Qadri in this regard.
