The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has issued a warning that temperatures in the city will rise in the coming days with a heatwave expected in the first week of May.
The mercury is likely to soar up to 39°C in Karachi today (Saturday). However, from May 1 to May 3 the temperature is likely to go up to 40°C. It may be warmer in the evening hours too as the humidity levels will reduce.
KMC has also issued a notification to all public hospitals to begin setting heatstroke wards.
Apart from Karachi, the meteorological department has indicated that the weather conditions in other parts of the country will be warmer and dry too.
Weather in southern Punjab and Sindh will remain on the hotter side, whereas, rain is likely to pour in Malakand division and some places in Gilgit-Baltistan.
