Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek will officially join the 25th James Bond film as a villain.
The announcement was made on the James Bond 007 official YouTube channel by members of the new cast at an iconic Bond movie location in Jamaica on Thursday.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson together with director Cary Joji Fukunaga revealed who would be joining Daniel Craig in his fifth and final 007 outing. They teased elements of the plot but didn’t unveil a title.
Malek’s character is still unnamed, however, Broccoli revealed a few details about the new film, including that it will begin with 007 on vacation in Jamaica.
“His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help,” Broccoli said. “The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”
The Academy Award-winning actor was not in Jamaica, but recorded a message for the cast where he promised to make sure “Mr Bond does not have an easy ride of it in this, his 25th outing.”
