KARACHI: Taking Indian by storm and raking in pots of money at home box office, Baahubali 2 fever gripped Pakistan too, as the flick is being screened in over 100 cinemas and earning big.
Interestingly, Baahubali 2 is the first dubbed regional film to release in Pakistan after a very long time and to this date, grossed more than PKR. 4.5 crore, according to Indian media.
The movie is being tipped to touch the Rs.60 million mark at the box-office.
According to Kishore Kedari, Business Development Head, Arka Media Works, “It is a huge success in all the major cities in Pakistan.”
Renowned Pakistani distributor Amjad Rasheed, who released the film in the country, said, “The film has especially got a huge response in single screens, even though it purports mythology and Hindu tradition to a certain extent.”
Lauding the movie for its daredevil action, the thrill, and outstanding special effects, Rasheed said, “There were initial problems in the film’s release due to apprehensions about getting a clearance from the Pakistan Censor Board.”
“Baahubali 2 was passed without a single cut since the Pakistan Censor Board did not find anything objectionable in the film,” Rasheed said.
Hailing the success of the movie in Pakistan, the president of the Indian Film Exporters Association, Hirachand Dand, said, “It’s a big achievement.”
