Bollywood’s method actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all set to play the character of South Asia’s infamous writer Sadat Hassan Manto in a film directed by Nandita Das. After the huge success of Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s Manto, fans are going Ga Ga over another piece of art associated with the works of this blunt and bold writer from the past.

Director Nandita Das’s version of Manto was screened recently at India Today Conclave 2017. The short film was premiered In Defence of Freedom receiving an overpowering response.

During these 6 precious minutes of a film, Manto (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is having a very bold yet meaningful conversation with a bunch of students at a university where he defends his freedom of speech in his writings.
