The conditions in which students in Balochistan’s Chaman are giving their Intermediate exams are less than ideal.
Many exam centres are plagued by lack of facilities. The Government Model High School Chaman is one such example.
Over 360 students are giving their papers at the school but more than half don’t even have a desk or a chair. Students are sitting on the floor on sheets while giving their exams.
There is no electricity at the school either, so the students have to sit in a stuffy and hot exam hall.
The school’s principal, Muhammad Anwar Khan, says it is the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education’s job to provide facilities like furniture. We haven’t been given any support by the board, he said.
SAMAA TV spoke to some students after their paper and they complained that it is very difficult to give an exam while on the floor. The dusty floor is irritating, they said.
They also said there is no water or electricity in the hall, making the heat worse. They complained that the BISE hasn’t done anything to facilitate them.
