The Federal Bureau of Revenue has clarified that it has not issued any instructions regarding freezing of bank accounts maintained by non-filers of income tax returns.
“In order to allay the misconception being caused by a segment of print media regarding freezing of bank accounts held by non-filers of income tax return, it is clarified that FBR has not issued any such instructions,” FBR said in a statement.
“It is further clarified that Income Tax Law does not restrict banking transactions out of bank accounts held by any person whether filer or non-filer,” the FBR clarified.
