PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced Friday reduction in electricity tariff by as much as Rs2.32 per unit, Samaa reported.
Talking to media here after meeting ANP leader Bashir Bilour, the prime minister said that domestic prices of the various petroleum products would also be reduced further from the coming month.
“We are working day and night to provide relief to the people,” he said, adding cut in electricity prices would help bring down inflation and provide necessary impetus to the industry.
He said that the government was also working to end the menace of power shortages, adding several new power projects are being built for the purpose.
Prime Minister Sharif said that government was also taking measures to stop electricity theft.
“This is also our priority along with revamping of transmission lines across the country,” he added. – Samaa
