ISLAMABAD: Spokesman to the Prime Minister Dr Musadik Malik Thursday said that the government was all set to decrease electricity tariff significantly within a couple of days, Samaa reported.

“Recently, we brought down the oil prices twice and now, within a day or two, a significant cut in power prices will be announced,” the spokesman said addressing a press briefing here.

He said a decrease in oil prices would have similar impact on inflation that was yet standing at around 5 percent. It would also bring down the prices of petrol and electricity to an affordable level, he maintained.

About the overbilling of electricity, he said the three audit firms engaged by the government had submitted preliminary report; however, the government had widened their scope to ensure thorough probe. Though, some minor evidences of overbilling have been found in the preliminary report too, he remarked.–SAMAA/Agencies
