Director Joe Russo has confirmed that he will be casting actor Priyanka Chopra in his next project. He made the announcement at a press event in Mumbai for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.
When asked about whether he would like to work with an Indian actor, Russo told Hindustan Times, “I’d love to work with Priyanka. I’m smiling only because we’re potentially talking to her about something, I’m just not going to say what yet.”
“India is the fastest growing market in the world for Marvel Cinematic Universe movies,” he said. The country was the first stop on the Endgame’s global press tour.
The filmmaker said that India plays an important role in Marvel’s future projects, after he saw an Indian crowd’s reaction to a scene from Avengers: Infinity War.
“Whenever we used to get tired on Endgame, we used to play that (recording) and get re-inspired,” he said. “To know that audiences here respond to movies that way – respond to these movies in particular that way – is why we make them,” Russo said.
Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
