No, Akshay Kumar isn’t contesting the upcoming Indian election on BJP ticket

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has clarified that he doesn’t intend to contesting the upcoming Indian elections on PM Narendra Modi’s BJP ticket.

There were rumours that the BJP will give him an election ticket from Amritsar.

“Politics is not on my agenda,” he was quoted as saying by the India Today. “I feel what I am doing through my films, I will never be able to do that through politics.”

Akshay Kumar’s remarks come a few days after Indian PM Narendra Modi urged Bollywood celebrities to motivate people to vote in the general election.

Bollywood star Aamir Khan has already declined to promote the BJP. “No, I don’t promote any political party,” Khan said when asked if he will promote the BJP.

The elections in India will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19.
