Festivities have begun for yet another high-profile Indian wedding — Isha Ambani, daughter of India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, is set to marry industrialist Anand Piramal.

Isha and Anand’s pre-wedding festivities kicked off in Udaipur on Friday. The ceremonies began with a special four-day Anna Seva to feed 5,100 people with disabilities.

Isha will tie the knot with Piramal scion Anand on Wednesday in Mumbai, but the families are hosting their guests in Udaipur over the weekend to kick off the pre-wedding festivities.

For the pre-wedding festivities, the families have curated an exhibition, the Swadesh Bazaar, that will showcase 108 traditional Indian craft and art forms for guests. Over 30 types of textiles and weaves ranging from Kanjeevaram, Patola to Chikankari and Bandhani will be a part of the exhibition, while artists showcasing ancient painting forms like Gond, Madhubani, Phad, Warli and Thangka, along with weavers, potters and sculptors have also been roped in for the carnival. The art forms will be presented by master craftsmen and craftswomen themselves, who are putting their effort to keep these traditional arts alive.

Three days of song, dance and pre-wedding rituals like the mehndi are also lined up over the weekend.

Celebrities started arriving in Udaipur December 8 with Actor Anil Kapoor and his wife Sunita Kapoor, filmmaker David Dhawan and fashion designer Manish Malhotra in the lead.
