Bollywood film Thugs of Hindostan has collected Rs500 million on its opening day.

According to the makers and Boxofficeindia.com, the opening day figure is Rs50.75 crore net. This means that it broke the opening day record of Sanju and Race 3 even.

The film opened on November 8 on 7,000 screens worldwide during Diwali season. It, however, received mixed reviews from the audiences so far.

It’s the first Bollywood film to cross the Rs 500 million mark at the box office right on the opening day and production house Yash Raj Film’s highest opening film, reported Hindustan Times.

Some actors and fans praised the film, which was reportedly completed in an estimated budget of INR 3 billion.

However, the critics felt it didn’t live up to the expectations.

The action-adventure film is about a thug whose gang poses a serious challenge to the British Raj during the 19th century. The star-studded cast includes Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Amitabh and Aamir teamed up for the first time in this highly anticipated movie.
