Bollywood film Thugs of Hindostan has collected Rs500 million on its opening day.
According to the makers and Boxofficeindia.com, the opening day figure is Rs50.75 crore net. This means that it broke the opening day record of Sanju and Race 3 even.
The film opened on November 8 on 7,000 screens worldwide during Diwali season. It, however, received mixed reviews from the audiences so far.
It’s the first Bollywood film to cross the Rs 500 million mark at the box office right on the opening day and production house Yash Raj Film’s highest opening film, reported Hindustan Times.
Some actors and fans praised the film, which was reportedly completed in an estimated budget of INR 3 billion.
Spent a throughly entertaining afternoon watching #ThugsOfHindostan it was like a rollercoaster ride through fantasy land. @aamir_khan as usual is super fantastic, but me being a die hard @SrBachchan fan, it was Mr B for me all the way, he was just awesome…

However, the critics felt it didn’t live up to the expectations.
All that glitters is NOT gold… Holds true for #TOH… Some engrossing moments in the first hour, that’s about it… Formula-ridden plot, screenplay of convenience, shoddy direction are the main culprits… 👎👎👎
