Pokémon has been a worldwide sensation for over 20 years, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations of kids, yet somehow there has never been a live-action movie based on Nintendo’s world of pocket monsters. Until now, that is.
Warner Bros has released the first trailer for its upcoming film Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, starring Justice Smith, Ken Watanabe and Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the fluffy yellow detective.
In the new trailer, Deadpool actor Reynolds voices an adorable, fuzzy version of everyone’s favourite electric Pokémon.
The Detective Pikachu story begins with ace detective Harry Goodman mysteriously going missing, prompting his 21-year old son Tim to try and find out what happened to him. Helping out in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu, who is a hilariously cute, adorable super-spy and is a perplexity, even to himself.
Pokémon Detective Pikachu will be coming to the big screen on May 10, 2019.
