Mowgli: The Legend of the Jungle’s world premiere was held in Mumbai on Sunday where the film’s international and Indian cast were present.
The film’s original cast including director Andy Serkis, Christian Bale,Freida Pinto and Rohan Chand attended the event. Bollywood stars who gave their voices to the characters for the Hindi version including Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor were also in attendance.
Baloo, the bear was voiced by Serkis and Anil Kapoor, Bagheera by Christian Bale and Abishek, Kaa by Cate Blanchett and Kareena Kapoor while Dixit took the mic for Mowgli’s adoptive wolf mother, Nisha.
Speaking at the premiere, Bachchan said that it was difficult to try and Indianise the movie. But he found strong references for the character Bagheera in Bale’s performance, which made his job easier.

Anil Kapoor brought his own personality to Baloo’s character by using terms like ‘jhakaas’. He thanked the director for the ‘layered characterization’ and said, “Usually you’d have the director right next to you when you dub for a film, but this time I had Andy’s voice.”
Dixit shared a picture on Twitter where she and Anil Kapoor were seen twinning in blue.

Mowgli is a darker adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel The Jungle Book. Created by Warner Bros and Serkis’ Imaginarium, the film will be released on Netflix on December 7.
