Marvel plans to create characters with ‘a real toehold in Indian culture’ and that character may be Shah Rukh Khan.

Indian Express reported that Stephen Wacker, vice-president of creative development at Marvel,  said, “We want to find a way to create characters that have a home in this world so we can bring Indian culture to the core North American Marvel fan.” He said he wanted to try to be as authentic as he can when searching for Indian talent.

Wacker showed his interest in creating an Indian character similar to Black Panther. When asked who would be cast, he said “If we make Indian content, we have to put in Shah Rukh Khan. He has to be in it.” It is unclear whether Khan is aware of these plans.

King Khan has already starred as a superhero in Ra.One but this would be Marvel’s first foray into Indian superheroes.

Marvel has a huge fan following in the sub-continent. Avengers Infinity War is the highest grossing Hollywood movie of 2018 in India.

Kamala Khan as Ms Marvel, a Pakistani-American superhero, has already been introduced in Marvel comic books. The character was created by editors Sana Amanat and Wacker.
