KARACHI: Dozens of film and TV actors on Friday staged a protest in front of Sindh Assembly against the rape and killing of seven-year-old Zainab in Kasur.
The demonstrators mostly people from showbiz industry were first denied entry to the Sindh Assembly, but on insistence they were allowed to record their protest.
“For how long we will continue to maintain silence on the issue of child abuse. We cannot sit quiet anymore,” TV actor Faisal Quershi told SAMAA.
Prominent model Nadia Hussain deplored the sexual assault and murder of Zainab.
“Enough is enough. This is not the first case,” she said.
Actress Ayesa Omar called for introducing reforms in the Child Protection Bill to prevent child abuse. - SAMAA
