Ahsan Khan plays Babu Bhai, a kidnapper who as opposed to his role, has a soft heart. He has surprised us with yet another incredible performance in ‘Chupan Chupai.’ Playing a comical role of a kidnapper who falls in love with an imaginary “pari” played by Neelam Munir.
Recently, we saw Khan in a negative role in the super hit drama Udaari and to suddenly shift from a villain to a comic hero is not only a major risk but also a difficult task to carry out, however, Khan managed to sway the viewers with his performance in both roles flawlessly.
Comedy is probably the most difficult genre to execute because if you fail to make the audience laugh, you’re career is over fortunately, Chupan Chupai and Khan’s acting had the audience in stitches.
Directed and co-written by Mohsin Ali,the movie will leave you hysterical with it’s well timed hilarious punch lines and twists in the story. Chupan Chupai is a remake of a Tamil movie revolving around Babu (Ahsan Khan), Teeli (Vajdaan Shah), Koki (Ali Rizvi) and Faddy (Zayed Sheikh). The four decide to kidnap an honest minister’s, not so honest son Faizan Khawaja and end up in a slapstick situation, landing them at the wrong side of the notorious SHO officer Chaudhary (Adnan Jaffar).
Adnan Dhool and Rabi Ahmed (Soch the band) have done a marvelous job with a melodious soundtrack, they managed to compose and produce chart toppers such as ‘Sadqa and Jhoom Le.
Every actor played their characters tremendously, other than Ahsan Khan this was a debut movie for the rest of the cast and they managed to perform exceptionally well. Ali Rizvi in particular stole the limelight followed by Faizan Khawaja. Neelum Munir also looked stunning throughout the movie and has proved herself as an astounding actor.
Chupan Chupai comes as a breath of fresh air for Pakistani cinema and is a must watch for everyone!
