BBC apologizes for mistaking Amitabh Bachchan for Shashi Kapoor

December 5, 2017

NEWS DESK: Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, the romantic icon of the 1970s, passed away on Monday in Mumbai at the age of 79. The news of his death led to many tributes pouring in from celebrities and media houses the world over. However, the tribute broadcast by British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has left many fuming, given that they played footage of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor while covering the late actor’s demise.

A clip of a BBC anchor talking about Shashi Kapoor while footage of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor played in the background soon made its way to Twitter.

Eventually, Paul Royall, the editor of BBC News at Six and Ten, issued an apology on Twitter.
