KARACHI: Coke Studio season 10 was launched with much fanfare on Friday.
Bloggers, media personalities, senor management of Coca-Cola Pakistan as well as celebrities and artists of note attended the ceremony.
Strings members Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia took to the microphone in order to explain to the audience the hectic process of filming and recording Coke Studio songs as well as the artists’ work ethic that goes with it.
“Coke Studio songs that you see are recorded in one take,” said Faisal Kapadia, as the audience erupted into loud cheers and clapping. “The amount of work that artists put into each song is mind-blowing,” he said.
Bilal Maqsood said that the process of recording songs was done in three phases. In phase one, the Coke Studio team decides by December as to what type of songs would be featured in Coke Studio.
“The second phase starts when we go into the jamming room,” he said. “There, we construct and reconstruct songs,” he added.
Bilal further said that the last phase comes when the artist arrives and brings his/her own vibe to it.
Rizwan Khan, General Manager Coke Pakistan and Afghanistan, said that he was proud of how far Coke Studio had come.
“Out of 185 countries, 150 of them watched Coke Studio’s website,” he added. “A couple of countries have followed our methodology but their Coke Studios are not as popular,” he added.
After the speeches were done, four Coke Studio songs from episode 1 were screened for the audience.
Allah Hu Akbar by Shafqat Amanat Ali and Ahmed Jahanzeb received much applause and adulation from the audience.
Danyal Zafar and Momina Mustehsan’s duet was also met with much applause and cheering.
