Mashal lynching: Ahsan Khan urges TV to educate society


The shocking murder of Mardan university student Mashal Khan has moved people from all walks of life.

Pakistani showbiz star Ashan Khan, who won the Best Actor award, spoke up about the gristly act in his speech at the 16h Lux Style Award..

“Television is such an effective medium and there is so much happening around you that you have to make socially aware content. Take the Mashal Khan incident for that matter”.

He was of the view that, this incident happens because society is not educated. Ahsan Khan further emphasized that television is the best medium to educate people.


“I have a special request for everybody in the industry .. we can sort this out. A lot of incidents which we hear everyday, like Mashal Khan’s, it’s because our society is not educated and television is the best medium we can [use to] educated people and it is our moral duty to educate people,” he added.

Mashal Khan, a student of Mass Commutation at Abdul Wali Khan University, was beaten, stripped and shot to death, and his body was mutilated by a mob comprising his classmates, students and university’s employees on Thursday afternoon.

In recent developments regarding Mashal Khan’s murder case, PTI chief Imran Khan met the family of Mashal Khan on Tuesday and stated that he would ‘make every effort possible’ to honour the request of the deceased’s relatives to name the university after him.
