MUMBAI: Veteran actor Vinod Khanna’s death has sent shockwaves through the industry, and as a mark of respect, the premiere of “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” in Mumbai has been cancelled.

The 70-year-old actor passed away this morning from bladder cancer.

Karan Johar, who is the distributor of the Hindi dubbed version of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, took to Twitter to make the announcement. He wrote, “As a mark of respect to our beloved Vinod Khanna the entire team of Baahubali has decided to cancel the premiere tonight…”

Even though fans were looking forward to the grand event, they supported the Baahubali team’s gesture.

The filmmaker had remembered Vinod Khanna and his charisma in an earlier tweet. Karan had written, “His screen presence is unparalleled even today…his super star swag is what we grew up on….RIP #VinodKhanna …thoughts and prayers….”

Vinod Khanna, the original heartthrob of Hindi films, died this morning. He was reportedly battling with cancer for years. The actor was 70.

In his long Bollywood career, he worked in more than 100 films, and was an active politician, and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Punjab.

Vinod is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna, sons Rahul, Akshaye and Sakshi, and daughter Shraddha Khanna.

Before marrying Kavita, Vinod Khanna was married to Getanjali but they later got divorced. – Samaa
