MUMBAI: After facing a backlash on social media for his statement regarding Azaan, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam said in his latest tweet that the issue does not pertain to Azaan but loudspeakers instead.
One day after Sonu Nigam tweeted that he had woken up because of Azaan, the Muslim call to prayer, the Indian singer faced criticism from not only Indian Muslims on Twitter but also certain Bollywood celebrities.

Now, one day after the entire incident, Sonu stated that he stood by his statement and that he was against the use of loudspeakers in mosques and temples.

Sonu Nigam’s tweet had caused a backlash on Twitter, with many Indians questioning the singer’s right to rant against the Muslim call to prayer. He had also stated that he was against the use of loudspeakers in temples in a separate tweet.
Sonu Nigam had termed it all as ‘forced religiousness’.
