MUMBAI: If you thought Bollywood celebrities were perfect human beings and did not wreak havoc upon their domestic help, you were wrong.
According to a recent report in a renowned Indian English daily, a recent housekeeping service has banned Bollywood celebrities from its client list. This has ultimately blown the lid off on the issue and revealed how Indian actors and actresses rudely treat their domestic help.
Abhishek Sable from Happy Maids Service, disclosed how actors and actresses often verbally abused their servants and if the food was not to their liking, would throw it on their faces.
“I have stopped taking contracts from Bollywood. In the beginning, around three years ago, I provided house help to five-six celebrities. In my experience, only a few celebs are good. The others never gave [the maids] decent food. And if they didn’t like the food that the cook had made, they would throw the plate at their face,” he said.
He further revealed how one actor had waken up a cook late at night with a kick and told the servant to prepare food. Another falsely accused a maid of theft.
“When I took her to the police, she contacted some minister and the case was dismissed,” he said.
He further revealed how one actress did not like the caste of a maid and threatened Sable with murder when he protested.
“She said she didn’t want people from the Ambedkar caste as, in her opinion, they are dirty. She threatened me with murder and also called a minister,” he said.
Another service provide claimed that such ill-treatment didn’t necessarily come from established actors but struggling models and actors as well.
“It all depends on their mood; if they don’t like a maid’s services, they deduct an entire month’s salary. When we say we’ll approach the police, they retaliate by saying they’re not scared. The police are of no help. These instances are not just restricted to big stars; even struggling actors, models and television actors do it,” he said.
