Popular mobile game “Pokémon Go” is finally available on the Apple Watch, Game developer Niantic announced. It allows Apple watch users to easily explore and experience the app through their wrist. The new game could motivate individuals to get out and walk considerably more.

The Augmented reality and GPS powered game, is being downloaded 600 million times as of November, it provides a distinctive combination of gameplay and physical activity for a platform like the Apple Watch. The company recently announced that trainers have walked more than 8.7 billion kilometers in their quest to capture 88 billion Pokémon to date. That’s equivalent of 200,000 trips around the world, Niantic said.

It connects to the iPhone game and allows you to carry out certain in app activities without pulling out your phone. Pokémon Go users can not only track wild Pokémon but also hatch the new Pokémon monsters and can discover nearby Pokémon and collect items using quick taps.

Here are some core features of Pokémon GO for Apple Watch:

  • Log in a Pokémon-hunting session as a workout, with gameplay counting towards their personal fitness goals.
  • Receive alerts about the nearby Pokémon.
  • Count distance toward hatching Pokémon eggs and receiving candy with your buddy Pokémon.
  • Receive alerts for nearby PokéStops and collect items from them.
  • Receive alerts when eggs hatch and badges are awarded.

The company has also been regularly upgrading standard characteristics like the tracker, while collaborating with popular brands like Starbucks to serve as destinations for Gyms and PokéStops.

“Pokémon Go” was a massive success when it was released in July. However, how Apple Watch version will do is not clear yet, especially now when it’s cold in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere to be outside catching Pokémon.

Apple Watch wearers won’t be able to totally ditch their phone when playing Pokémon Go, specifically, when it comes to actually catch the Pokémon, you’ll still need to use your iPhone.

The game developer, Niantic, hasn’t announced any proposals for Android Wear and Samsung Gear smart watches.
