Karachiite’s taste buds have really evolved, which has given a chance for new cuisines to open up and flourish the food business in Karachi. Many restaurants with exclusive cuisines have been exceptional, Chop Chop Wok has been one of those. Within two years they have managed to open another branch at Badar commercial, after the success of Khadda markets branch.
Chop Chop Wok serves an authentic range of Oriental, Pan Asian and Japanese food at a very affordable price. They have made it more accessible by keeping a simple menu charging everything below Rs.600. This place is an absolute trend setter by introducing a new concept of ‘make your own wok’ with the ingredients and protein of your choice. You just need to go through three simple steps, select from a variety of rice or noodles, then pick a flavor you like and add proteins of your choice.
One of the highly recommended and all-time favorite dish at Chop Chop Wok is Nassi Gorieng (Fried rice). A generous amount of helping of jasmine rice (or brown rice) wok fried in authentic Malaysian spices, accompanied by some crunchy vegetables, a half fried egg on the top and some complimentary crackers. What more can one ask in just Rs.520.
Their sticky BBQ wings are spot on! A perfect appetizer coated with crispiness tanginess and sweetness altogether.
Another star of the show is Pan Asian Jasmine rice bowl with chicken. Jasmine rice infused with fresh Asian flavors with crunchy diced carrots, green beans, spring onions, and succulent pieces of wok fried chicken, makes it a rich dish with all the ingredients complimenting each other.
Although the mint lemonade is not consistent in its flavors, but when it’s made properly with the right amount of sugar and fresh mint leaves, there is nothing more refreshing and thirst quenching than this. It certainly goes well with the spicy oriental dishes.
However, Thai Beef Salad may appear as a very exotic starter on the menu, but it comes as a bed sautéed onions with few juliennes of green pepper and carrots and four to five strips of pan fried beef. Lack of Thai dressing was the reason the flavors did not bind the salad together.
Their Tom Yum seems quite appetizing but tastes only of fish sauce. The vast quantity of fish oil over powers the entire taste and concept of Tom yum goong. The spice level is low as compared to the other Tom yum soup and it tastes bland.
Chop Chop Wok is just the right place to satiate your Oriental cravings. One thing is for sure that this place has never compromised on quantity and quality and they are always up for their customers’ feedback to keep the restaurant up to the mark. The service, cleanliness, staff efficiency and hospitable environment is also the reason of its success in such a small span of time.
