MUMBAI: In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, Rishi Kapoor, the original lover boy of Hindi cinema, admitted to have been drawn to an offer of a Pakistani film – one, which he had to turn down given the current strained relationship the two democracies share.

“Recently, I was approached for a Pakistani film; it was the sequel to one of their biggest hits. I heard the story and found it interesting,” Kapoor said in the interview with Hindustan Times.

“Now, of course, it [was] not possible to act in it. The situation was ironic,” he added.

When asked about the ban on allowing Pakistani artistes to work in India, Kapoor said he was “a little upset” that they ” refused to denounce the Uri attacks”.

“But we can’t ban the films that have been already made, because there is so much money involved,” he added.

Kapoor said he will not do a Pakistani film, however, because his “country won’t like [him] to do it”.

“… I am a proud Indian. If Pakistan is a terrorist state, I don’t want to be a part of them,” he said. – Samaa
