With Hindi rightwing group continuing its protest against the release of Bollywood film producer and director Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hain Muskhil, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that anybody found taking law into their hands would be dealt firmly, Indain Express reported.

While indicating that everybody has the right to protest, Fadnavis said that any action that disrupts law and order would not go unpunished.

Twelve MNS workers have been arrested earlier today when they barged into Metro Cinema to threaten the owners against the screening of the film.

“Police has taken very strict action on MNS today. Twelve members of the MNS who had gone to Metro theatre to threaten them have been sent to judicial custody till November 4,” said Fadnavis.

The MNS, led by Raj Thackeray, had threatened to target theatres screening films starring Pakistan actors.

The Cine Owners Association also requested its members to suspend the screening of the film fearing violence.

On Tuesday, Karan Johar, in a video message, conveyed that he would not engage Pakistani talent in his films.

On the same day, producers Mukesh Bhatt, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Anupama Chopra, Vijay Singh of Fox and a Dharma Productions team met police officials.

Bhatt said later, “What we are asking is our legitimate right to conduct business which is the fundamental right of an Indian.” He appealed to his “brothers in the MNS” to ensure a peaceful Diwali. – Web Desk
