KARACHI: When it comes to Coke Studio, you’d love for it to “string” you along.

As Pakistan nears celebration of its independence, the popular music TV series launched a tear-jerking tribute to the heroes of the country: Aye Rah-e-Haq- Ke Shaheedo, captioned, “Dedicated to those who sacrificed their todays for our tomorrows”.

The song has been launched as to promote the upcoming season of the music programme, starting August 13.

The three-minute music video features some of the country’s finest artists, including slain Sufi singer Amjad Sabri, Abida Pareveen, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Azmat, Noori, Faakhir as well as Meesha Shafi, Zeb Bangash, Sanam Marvi, Umair Jaswal and Zahoor.

Many on social media could not help but sing praises for the song. One Twitter user said, “[Coke Studio’s] music goes straight to the core.” – SAMAA
