MUMBAI: Bollywood filmmaker Zoya Akhtar also joined a bandwagon of Bollywood celebrities to support Shah Rukh Khan over his religious intolerance comment, saying it is ‘silly’ to raise questions on King Khan’s credentials.

“It is silly that Shah Rukh Khan has to prove his credentials. He is a great loyalist to this country, he is a huge artist and he has billion of people supporting him,” Zoya said when asked about the controversy wherein some politicians attacked Bollywood superstar for his ‘growing intolerance in India’ remark.

Supporting the ‘award return’ trend that has caught on among artistes across the cinema, art and literature worlds, Zoya said it is the most peaceful way of expressing things.

“I support them. If I had the national award, I would possibly return it, she added.
