BOGOTA: Up 35,000 thousand fans danced to singer Shakira's music at a concert stop on the singer's “Pop Festival” tour in Bogota. Children and adults came out to see the singer from Barranquilla, after almost five years of absence from the Bogota stage.
Shakira jumped on stage after a 40 minutes delay dressed in skin tight pants and gold sequin top.
“There is nothing in the world like home: My Colombia,” she said. “Have fun!”
The pop star was ready to interpret recent hits as “Wolf” and “Loca”, the latter included in his album “The sun rises.”
Concertgoer Jaime Gil was amazed at the number of people who turned up for the show.
“There were so many people, but it was very organized,” he said. “Not too much rain, worth the wait. Yes, it was great.”
At least 1,100 police officers and 70 paramedics, in addition to groups of firefighters, were part of the security cordon and prevention that was devoted by the city authorities for the proper development of the concert.
The last time Shakira was presented in Bogota was the November 17, 2006 with his album “Oral Fixation.”
The show was transmitted in real time through giant screens in four major cities in Colombia: Medellin, Cali, Barranquilla and Cartagena.
After the concert in Bogota, the Colombian star is traveling to of Porto Alegre, Brazil, where she will share the stage with Ziggy Marley, Fat Boy Slim, Chimmarruts and again Train.
The Latin American tour Pop Festival began on the first of March with a presentation by Shakira in Salta, Argentina. It ends on April 10 in San Jose de Costa Rica. AGENCIES
