Fasting is no easy task and if you don’t follow the proper diet, you can end up in trouble. We asked a doctor what he thought people should eat and drink in the hot weather to make it through the month without being dehydrated or suffering from a heatstroke.
Dr Taufiq, MS Civil Hospital, said that during Sehri, one must consume yoghurt, milk and water in order to survive the hot weather.
“Avoid fried edible items when you break your fast at sunset and don’t go for tea or coffee,” he said.
The doctor cautioned against venturing out unnecessarily outside during 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
“It is very important to maintain the required level of water in your body,” he said. “If you do have to go out from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, cover your head and neck with a scarf.”
