The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) rejected the criticism against the Senate resolution to delay polls and requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to consider the resolution as there was nothing unusual in it.
BAP spokesman Senator Kauda Babar rejected the criticism of the resolution and questioned have elections had never been delayed before today and was it was a grave sin for an elected member of the Upper House to vote for a resolution.
“The stories of the critics are nothing more than personal interest,” Senator Babar said.
He questioned whether the passage of a resolution by the Senate was against the Constitution of Pakistan.
BAP spokesperson said everyone wants to be the prime minister and has nothing to do with public issues.

Defending the resolution, which created much uproar—and was rejected by major political parties including PMLN, PPP, and PTI— Babar said Senators have the right to speak on behalf of regions and provinces.
“We have put all our reservations in this resolution. The ECP should look into our concerns and evaluate them. If something happens to someone tomorrow, who will be responsible for it,” he argued.
BAP senator questioned would a few major political parties make decisions in Pakistan and whether an elected members have no status of their own.
He said the political mafia could stop any member from raising his voice in the parliament and big parties should understand public concerns instead of playing only for prime minister.
The Senate Friday passed a resolution, presented by Senator Dilawar Khan, seeking a delay in the February 8 general elections, citing security concerns.
