The Senate Friday passed a resolution, presented by Senator Dilawar Khan, seeking a delay in the February 8 general elections, citing security concerns.
Independent Senator Dilawar Khan said there were security threats to political leaders, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and there are concerns about the security of the political parties' candidates.
The resolution stated that intelligence agencies had issued a security alert for election rallies.
