Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the masses paid the “price for opposition against him".
In a video statement, the former prime minister said: “After being declared innocent, I remember how I faced a series of trials and tribulations. I along with my daughter had faced hundreds of hearings.”
“The Higher Power gave me enough courage to bear the pain. The elements of lies and conspiracies have been exposed. After the six-year tribulations, finally my innocence had been proved,” the PML-N supremo said.
He said, “The senior judges had been blackmailed at their houses in a bid to get the wanted decision. Why did the country have to bear the brunt of imposing any ladla?”
Nawaz Sharif lamented, “The shameful game had been exposed. Everything is now part of the record. Why had the country been dragged into an economic quagmire?”
"Justice Khosa had said, come to us. The bench judge had been appointed as the monitoring judge. I had to face the prison for a long time. Those who showed enmity towards me targeted the country," he said.

He rued: "Why the Pakistani rupee was depreciated? The country, which was one of the most respectable nations in the world, had been isolated".
"The masses were given more punishment than me. The people had to witness the ballooning inflation. It would have been better to put me behind bars rather than leave the masses to face the trials and tribulations," Nawaz Sharif stated.
“Whenever I left power after being ousted, the country was witnessing a better situation,” he said.
He maintained, "I know that the masses will announce their verdict for the sake of a prosperous country on February 8".
