Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb deemed on Saturday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) intra-party polls as "selection."
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the former federal information minister said, "The practice of the biggest rigging prevails in the PTI intra-polls. This is not the election but a spectacle."
Marriyum urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of the PTI intra-party polls.
She said, "When the notice is taken against the PTI, then its leader will hurl foul language at the ECP Chief Election Commissioner. How can the PTI dare to talk about the transparent polls?"
"The PTI took no time in releasing the press release following the intra-party polls," Aurangzeb said.
Recalling the events that transpired on May 9, Aurangzeb asserted, "The mastermind of the May 9 violence is the mafia. A group of mafia has nothing to do with the intra-party polls or the general elections in the country."
"The only thing the PTI wants is to spread unrest in the country," Aurangzeb said.
– Nawaz Sharif had faced injustice –
PML-N senior leader Khurram Dastgir said on Friday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had to face "injustice".
Speaking exclusively on Samaa TV, the former power minister said: “Under the guise of experimentation for bringing the PTI chief into power, the country’s democracy was derailed and the country’s economy was dragged into a quagmire.”
“Nawaz Sharif had said on his return to the country that his party would not allow anyone to play with the country’s fate,” he said.
He made it clear that it was not on his party’s agenda to launch a “smear” campaign against any institution.
Recalling the May 9 mayhem, Dastgir asserted, “The PTI chief wanted to capture state power on May 9.”
He said, “The PTI chief was not fighting for civilian supremacy. It is only Nawaz Sharif who has struggled for the sake of civilian supremacy.”
“We will take steps for the supremacy of parliament if voted into power,” Dastgir maintained.
