Apple is reportedly preparing a landmark product lineup for 2027 to mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, including a radically redesigned flagship device, a second-generation foldable iPhone, and AirPods equipped with built-in cameras.
According to a new report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the tech giant is developing several next-generation products aimed at reshaping its hardware ecosystem over the coming years.
20th anniversary iPhone in development
The centerpiece of Apple's 2027 lineup is expected to be a special 20th anniversary iPhone featuring a nearly edge-to-edge display and a curved glass design that wraps around the sides of the device.
The report claims Apple is planning two anniversary models in sizes similar to the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The devices, internally codenamed V73 and V74, are expected to succeed the iPhone 18 Pro series and could represent one of the biggest design changes since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017.
Foldable iPhone also expected
Apple is also reportedly on track to introduce a second-generation foldable iPhone in late 2027 as part of its premium smartphone lineup.
Both the anniversary iPhone models and the foldable device are expected to be powered by Apple's next-generation A21 chip, reportedly built on an advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process.
AirPods with cameras
Another notable product in development is a new version of AirPods featuring integrated cameras.
According to the report, the camera-equipped AirPods were originally targeted for release in 2026 but were delayed due to challenges related to Apple’s artificial intelligence initiatives and improvements to Siri.
The company is said to be developing advanced visual AI models that would allow the earbuds to identify and interpret objects in a user's surroundings.
The AirPods project reportedly carries the internal codename B798 and is now expected to launch in late 2027.
What comes before 2027?
Before the anniversary lineup arrives, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year, powered by the A20 Pro chip.
Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 is reportedly scheduled to launch in early 2027 with Apple's base A20 processor.
Bloomberg also reported that Apple's premium iPhone lineup in 2028 could feature the A22 Pro chip, which may be manufactured using an even more advanced 1.4-nanometer process.
While the report outlines Apple's long-term roadmap, Bloomberg noted that development timelines remain subject to change and the products could be delayed depending on technological and manufacturing challenges.
If the plans move forward as expected, 2027 could become one of Apple's most significant product years since the original iPhone debuted in 2007.
