Tecno has unveiled its latest Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro smartphones across select African markets ahead of their anticipated global presentation at the Mobile World Congress next month.
While both devices share much of their hardware, the Pro variant stands out with a curved display and an additional telephoto camera aimed at enhancing photography capabilities.
Design and display
The Camon 50 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, complemented by a curved panel and an under-display optical fingerprint scanner.
The standard Camon 50 offers the same 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with identical resolution, refresh rate, selfie camera, and fingerprint sensor, but opts for a flat display instead.
Both models are available in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Mint Cream, while the Pro version includes an exclusive Ethereal Blue colour option.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, both smartphones are powered by MediaTek’s Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
They run HiOS 16 based on the Android 16 operating system and feature Tecno’s integrated AI suite. The devices also come with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance.
Camera Setup
Both phones support a 50MP main rear camera built around Sony’s LYT700C 1/1.56-inch sensor with optical image stabilisation and a 23mm equivalent focal length.
An 8MP ultrawide lens with a 14mm focal length and f/2.2 aperture is also included, along with a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The Camon 50 Pro further enhances its photography setup with a 50MP telephoto lens offering a 70mm equivalent focal length and 3x optical zoom.
Battery and Pricing
The Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro are equipped with 6,150mAh batteries supporting 45W wired fast charging.
In terms of pricing, the Camon 50 is listed at $290, while the Camon 50 Pro starts at $341, positioning the series competitively in the mid-range smartphone segment.
