Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan’s health has sparked concern after reports confirmed that the 90-year-old has been placed on ventilator support at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.
He was rushed to the emergency unit early Tuesday morning by his family doctor.
Soon after his admission, his children — including superstar Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan — were seen arriving at the hospital.
According to medical sources, Salim Khan was admitted to the ICU around 8:30 am and later placed under intensive monitoring. A sudden spike in blood pressure reportedly led to internal bleeding, prompting doctors to put him on ventilator support.
A source cited in media reports said breathing difficulties caused alarm, leading the family to act swiftly. The hospital may hold a press briefing later, subject to the family’s consent, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
A team of specialists, including neurologists, cardiologists, and neurosurgeons, is overseeing his treatment. While he remains in the ICU, his condition is reportedly stable.
Family members and visitors at hospital
Family members and close friends have been present at the hospital since the news broke.
Spotted at Lilavati Hospital were Salman Khan’s brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, along with other family members including Salma Khan and Helen. His children Alvira Khan and Arpita Khan were also seen arriving.
Grandsons Nirvaan and Arhaan visited their grandfather, while close industry friends such as actor Sanjay Dutt and screenwriter Javed Akhtar were among those who came to offer support.
Earlier reports suggested Salim Khan had been diagnosed with a blood clot. Journalist Vickey Lalwani claimed on Instagram that he was rushed to the hospital after feeling “very giddy.”
Legacy of legendary screenwriter
Salim Khan rose to prominence as one half of the iconic Salim–Javed duo alongside Javed Akhtar.
