Actor Sidharth Malhotra’s father, Sunil Malhotra, passed away on Saturday, February 14, after a prolonged illness.
The actor travelled to Delhi with his wife Kiara Advani to be with his family and complete the final rites.
Sources close to the family confirmed that Sunil Malhotra had been unwell for a long time before his death.
“The family is grieving and has requested privacy at this time. Sidharth was extremely close to his father and this is an immense loss not only for him but for the entire family,” a source told India Today.
Sidharth and Kiara have stayed back in the capital to support the family during this difficult period.
Sidharth’s emotional tribute
The 41-year-old actor shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, remembering his father’s character and values.
“He was a man of rare honesty, integrity and culture. He lived by values that never bent. Discipline without harshness. Strength without ego. Positivity, even when life tested him beyond measure,” Sidharth wrote.
He added, “Papa, your integrity is my inheritance. Your strength guides me every day. Your positivity still holds this family together.”
A father’s influence
Sunil Malhotra was a former Merchant Navy captain and played a key role in shaping his son’s life.
Sidharth has often spoken about how his parents instilled discipline and humility in him — qualities he credits for keeping him grounded despite his success in Bollywood.
Months earlier, during an interview with Lilly Singh, Sidharth had opened up about his father’s declining health.
He admitted feeling guilty about working in Mumbai while his mother remained in Delhi to care for his father.
