A major operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Shah Latif Town resulted in the deaths of four terrorists following an exchange of fire, officials said. Explosives, hand grenades, and an SMG were recovered from the targeted house.
CTD officials conducted a raid on a house in Shah Latif Town based on intelligence regarding terrorist activity. During the operation, suspects opened fire on the security personnel, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
The slain terrorists include Jalil, Niyaz, and Hamdan. Officials reported that some of the terrorists’ associates managed to escape, and cordons have been set up to apprehend them.
Recovery of weapons and explosives
The CTD, with assistance from the bomb disposal squad, recovered a Kalashnikov rifle, five hand grenades, detonators, detonation wires, and circuits from the house. The explosives were safely defused on site.

Investigators also discovered that Improvised Devices (IDs) were reportedly being prepared in drums within the premises, signaling an imminent threat had the operation not been conducted.
Injuries and investigation
Two CTD personnel were injured during the operation. According to DIG CTD Azfar Mahesar, the raid was connected to ongoing investigations of terrorists arrested with explosives last month. The suspects at the house opened fire on the arrested individuals, leading to the deaths of three before reaching the hospital and one inside the premises.
DIG Azfar Mahesar informed the media that the operation was a result of actionable intelligence and stressed that the recovered arms and explosives indicate a serious threat had the network been left unchecked.
“This operation was crucial in preventing potential terrorist activities in Karachi,” he said.
