Taylor Swift made a public appearance online just hours after terrorism charges were filed against a suspect linked to her 2024 Vienna concert.
The pop superstar lent her voice to support Team USA’s figure skating squad ahead of a major Winter Olympics competition this week.
On Monday, February 16, the U.S. Figure Skating Olympic team shared a video on its official Instagram account announcing Swift’s involvement.
In the 1:50-minute clip, the 36-year-old singer introduced American skaters Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, and Isabeau Levito ahead of a major competition scheduled this week.
The video begins with the athletes’ silhouettes as Swift says, “Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to Amber, Alysa and Isabeau.”
She later describes the trio as “three American showgirls on ice,” a nod to her latest hit album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Swift praises skaters’ journeys
Swift offered personal tributes to each athlete during the video.
Speaking about Glenn, she said, “Amber will be the first to tell you about how many battles she’s fought, and how the ones she’s lost have meant as much as the wins.”
For Glenn, she added, “Her superpower now is embracing the fight and daring the world to test her self-belief.”
Turning to Liu, Swift noted, “She walked away from skating when she was 16, then came back on her own terms. Joy fuels her now.”
As for Levito, Swift concluded, “I mean, she’s destiny personified.”
Vienna concert plot suspect charged
Swift’s supportive appearance comes just hours after a 21-year-old Austrian man was formally charged over an alleged plot to attack her concert in Vienna in August 2024.
If convicted, the suspect faces up to 20 years in prison.
The development marks a significant update in the investigation related to the security threat surrounding the singer’s Vienna show.
The “Love Story” hitmaker, who is engaged to Travis Kelce, has largely kept a low profile regarding the Vienna incident.
Her latest public move instead focused on uplifting American athletes as they prepare for a key Olympic event.
